OK--so I am hoping this picture doesn't gross you out, but we had to take a picture so E could see what it looked like. Last year when E went to the dentist for her first appt, the doctor informed us that she had a crossbite (which we had already realized). He said we could put in a "porter appliance" which over the course of three months, would move the top teeth so her bite would be normal. Last year we decided to go ahead with it, especially since doing so would help take pressure off of her TMJ joint as well as can help improve her "s" sound. Well when the dental assistant put in the "pink foam" to take an impression, poor Miss E threw up. She said it was just too big in there. Poor thing was so upset. So because she then had a big fear of it, the dentist said we could wait a year and with maturity, she would probably be much better with the idea. Luckily the impression they made was great and the appliance was constructed and waiting! Well at the end of February this year she had it put in and is doing great with it! And she is so happy because we found out at our appt this past Monday that the crossbite is already fixed and they will take it out on May 21st! Don't you just want to eat up this cute, little face?!
